Staff Spotlight: Charlie Schnellbacher
We are proud to shine this month’s spotlight on Charlie Schnellbacher, who has been part of the Sunnyside family since February 2025.
Charlie grew up in Washington, D.C., and has many cherished memories of life on the water.
He spent years boating, owning both traditional boats and even a houseboat. He especially loved fishing and taking others out on the water for skiing and fun.
One of the roles Charlie is most proud of was working as a budget officer for the Department of Health, Education, and Welfare. During his career, he played a part in helping federally fund programs for Sesame Street in its early beginnings, something truly special to be a part of.
Charlie also proudly served our country in the Air Force for 10 years as a staff sergeant and administrator.
If he could share one piece of advice with the younger generation, it would be simple but powerful: always tell the truth. At Sunnyside, Charlie enjoys participating in games and activities, and he finds joy in the little things, especially seeing children laugh and play. His favorite treat? Tapioca! We are so grateful to have Charlie as part of our community and love learning about the incredible life he has lived.
Staff Spotlight: Stephanie Arellano
We are excited to shine the spotlight on our wonderful cook, Stephanie Arellano, who has been a part of the Sunnyside family since December 2025.
Stephanie truly enjoys getting to know each of our residents and bringing comfort through the meals she prepares. Her warm presence in the kitchen is something both residents and staff appreciate every day.
A fun fact about Stephanie is that she loves to swim! When she’s not at work, she enjoys spending quality time with her family, especially her kids, who are the reason behind her biggest smiles.
If she could travel anywhere in the world, Stephanie would choose to explore Europe, and when it comes to food, her favorite is Mexican cuisine.
Her advice for others is simple but powerful: “It’s all on you, live life with no boundaries.” Growing up, Stephanie dreamed of being rich, and today she is inspired by someone very special in her life, her grandpa.
When it’s time to relax, you can find her watching anything Disney, her go-to comfort shows. One thing still on her bucket list? Going ziplining! We are so grateful to have Stephanie as part of our Sunnyside team!
Our Easter Carnival was such a beautiful day here at Sunnyside! It truly meant so much to see so many families come together, sharing smiles, laughter, and special moments with their loved ones. Events like this wouldn’t be possible without all of you, your support, energy, and presence are what make it so special.
The Easter egg hunt was a huge hit, with over 2,000 eggs bringing excitement and joy to everyone who participated! Watching the fun unfold was something we won’t forget.
We hope you all had a wonderful time with us. Thank you for being part of our Sunnyside family, we loved having you here!
