Summer Memories & Community News

Resident Spotlight: Larry

Larry grew up in Modesto, California. One of his favorite childhood memories is going deer hunting with his dad. As a young father working early mornings, he would sometimes bring his oldest daughter to work, where she would sleep in a small room near the grain with a heater while he worked. It’s a memory he still looks back on fondly. Larry’s favorite job was being a supervisor at Tri Valley. He also worked at S&H Dairy in Oakdale, where he milked cows. One piece of advice he shares is, “All money isn’t good money.”

Larry stands 6 feet 3 inches tall and is a true people person. If you see him around Sunnyside, don’t hesitate to stop and say hello! His favorite food is Mexican food, and one of the things he enjoys most about Sunnyside is participating in the activities.

What makes Larry smile every day is being blessed with another day and getting to talk with his kids. He loves making others happy.

If Larry could leave the younger generation with one piece of advice, it would be: “Stay clean and never start.”

Employee Spotlight: Jagdeep Kaur Sandhu

Jagdeep Kaur Sandhu has been a valued member of the Sunnyside team for nearly a year and a half, serving as a dedicated dietary aide. With her warm smile and kind heart, she helps make every day brighter for our residents. Friendly, hardworking, and compassionate, Jagdeep enjoys meeting new people, even though she describes herself as a bit shy.

Outside of work, Jagdeep enjoys cleaning, loves Indian food, and hopes to visit Hawaii someday. She treasures spending time with her son, who always brings a smile to her face. Her favorite movie is Frozen, and when she was younger, she dreamed of becoming either a teacher or a nurse.

Jagdeep says her family is her greatest inspiration and encourages others to never worry about the past, but instead focus on the present and move forward with positivity.

We are grateful for Jagdeep’s kindness, dedication, and the care she provides each day. Thank you, Jagdeep, for being such an important part of the Sunnyside family!

4th of July Celebration at Sunnyside

Our 4th of July celebration at Sunnyside was a wonderful day filled with patriotic spirit and great memories. Residents enjoyed a delicious outdoor barbecue, an exciting fire-spinning performance, and a spectacular fireworks display to end the evening. It was a fantastic day spent celebrating together with friends, family, and staff. Thank you to everyone who helped make this Independence Day so special!

Father’s Day Celebration

Thank you to everyone who joined us for our Father’s Day celebration! It was wonderful to see so many family members come together to honor our fathers, father figures, and grandfathers.

A special thank you to our amazing kitchen staff for the delicious meal, Denise for filling the room with wonderful music, and Bristol Hospice for the root beer floats that were a big hit!

We are grateful to celebrate Father’s Day with everyone at Sunnyside.
