Dawn Pero has been a part of this community for nearly two decades—this coming July marks 19 years of her working at this very facility. When the building transitioned to Sunnyside Senior Living, Dawn remained a steady and trusted presence. She’s been with Sunnyside since the beginning and continues to be a vital part of our team.
As Care Coordinator, Dawn oversees both our caregivers and med techs, treating every team member with fairness, respect, and compassion. Her leadership style reflects her deep care for people—and she goes above and beyond to ensure every resident and family feels supported and heard.
Dawn says what she enjoys most is “making residents and their families feel at home and ensuring their needs are met at all times.” Whether she’s managing appointments, helping with move-ins, or guiding her team, Dawn gives her all—every single day.
A few things you might not know: she’s the second oldest of 17 siblings, loves music and dancing, and enjoys attending concerts and DJ events. Thai food is her favorite, and if she could travel anywhere, she’d choose Croatia to see its beautiful architecture. Her kids and grandkids are her biggest source of joy, and one piece of advice that’s stuck with her over the years is: “You’ll stop doing something when you grow to hate it.”
Dawn’s care, dedication, and leadership are part of what makes Sunnyside feel like home.
A big thank you to Tammy for inviting us to her farm! We had such a great time meeting all the animals — from baby chicks to pigs, cows, and many horses. Everyone really enjoyed the fresh air, lunch outdoors, and a fun flower arranging activity to top it off.

Our residents had a beautiful morning at Donnelly Park, surrounded by sunshine, fresh air, and lots of feathered friends! We enjoyed feeding a variety of birds—geese, ducks, and even some baby chicks. With around 50 birds gathering near us, it was quite the lively and heartwarming scene. Everyone had a wonderful time connecting with nature, relaxing under the trees, and sharing a few laughs. Thank you to everyone who made the day so special!
