September Highlights at Sunnyside Senior Living ~ Caregiver Spotlight, Fair Fun, and Resident Joy

Team Spotlight: Gurpreet Singh

This month, we’re proud to spotlight Gurpreet Singh, one of our dedicated Med Techs and caregivers here at Sunnyside. Gurpreet has been with us for 2 years and finds deep satisfaction in bringing joy to the residents he serves. He shared that the happiness of the residents gives him a true sense of purpose in his work.

Outside of Sunnyside, Gurpreet enjoys traveling, listening to music, and writing poetry. If he could travel anywhere in the world, he’d choose Switzerland for its natural beauty and peaceful atmosphere. His favorite foods are pizza and Indian classics, especially samosas!

A fun fact about Gurpreet: he loves Hindi movies like 12th Fail and enjoys Punjabi music. When asked what always makes him smile, he said simply,

“My parents, when they are happy, I am happy.”

Growing up, Gurpreet dreamed of becoming a professional cricket player—a passion rooted in his love for the sport. He’s also inspired by Muhammad Ali, especially Ali’s perspective on pushing through hard times. As Ali once said, “I hated every minute of training, but I said, ‘Don’t quit. Suffer now and live the rest of your life as a champion.’” Gurpreet relates to this mindset, finding strength and motivation during life’s “training seasons.”

One big goal still on his bucket list? Passing the RN-NCLEX exam—and we’re all cheering him on!

Thank you, Gurpreet, for your compassion, dedication, and the kindness you bring to Sunnyside each day.

We had the pleasure of taking our residents to the fair once again this year, and it was a wonderful time for all. Our favorite stop was the petting zoo, where the animals stole our hearts. The food was incredible, and we made sure to indulge in all the classic fair favorites. Residents enjoyed a surprise visit with the local fire department and ended the day with live music from a fun-filled concert. Until next year, we’ll be holding onto the smiles and memories from this special outing!

At Sunnyside, we believe that love and connection are at the heart of what makes our community so special. We warmly welcome families to visit, spend time, and create lasting memories with their loved ones. Whether it’s a shared laugh, a gentle hand to hold, or simply enjoying each other’s company, we treasure these moments deeply.

It brings us so much joy to see families gathered together, reminding us all that home is not just a place, but the people we hold dear. Our doors are always open, and our hearts are always ready to welcome you.

Larry’s Laughs & Riddles

One of our residents here at Sunnyside, Larry, can always be counted on to bring a smile to our faces! This month, he had us all laughing with his joke:

Q: Why don’t skeletons fight each other?

A: Because they don’t have the guts!

He also stumped us with a clever riddle:

Riddle: I speak without a mouth and hear without ears. I have no body, but I come alive in the wind.

Answer: An echo.

Thanks for keeping our minds sharp and our spirits high, Larry!
