Staff Spotlight: Daniel Calvillo

While most of us are asleep, our night-shift team is working behind the scenes to keep our residents safe and comfortable. One of those quiet heroes is Daniel.

Daniel is dependable, always willing to pick up extra shifts, and consistently goes above and beyond. He takes initiative, speaks up when something isn’t right, and can always be counted on to show up and help wherever he is needed.

Outside of work, Daniel is a big animal lover and enjoys caring for exotic birds. He also dreams of traveling to Brazil one day and is known for his love of seafood — especially shrimp and Alaskan king crab. We are grateful to have Daniel on our team and appreciate everything he does each night to support our residents.

We had a wonderful Christmas at Sunnyside this year.

Every resident was able to open a gift, and the joy on their faces was truly priceless. None of this would have been possible without the incredible generosity of our donors, staff, and community. Thank you to everyone who helped make the holiday so special and meaningful for our residents.

We had an absolute blast at our basketball party!

From cheering each other on to tossing hoops and sharing lots of laughs, the energy was amazing. Everyone got into the spirit of the rally, and it was wonderful to see so many smiles and happy moments all around. Of course, no celebration is complete without good food, and that was enjoyed just as much as the game! Days like this remind us how special it is to come together, have fun, and make memories. What a great time for everyone involved!

Resident Spotlight: Ernestine – Our Puzzle Girl

If you’ve spent any time at Sunnyside, you’ve probably seen Ernestine working on a puzzle — that’s why we lovingly call her our “Puzzle Girl”! Ernestine is one of our wonderful residents and brings such an amazing spirit to our community every day. She loves playing Yahtzee and poker, enjoys shopping, and always has a smile to share.
